Are we shapeshifters or are we shifted by shapes?

One of my recent clients had an aversion to green. My last one had an aversion to pink. Interesting to know whether these were drivers in their decisions to declutter. Colours can impact on the way we see the world. We may not ‘see’ a colour after a while. One of my clients has now made a conscious decision to wear black less. She gets so much more joy from wearing different shades of blue, pink and green. Her wardrobe has taken on a new life.

And from here another question came up - how do we use clothes? Or are we used by clothes? Do we use them to create a persona, hide a persona or build on our own. Often a bit of all these - but if we can move towards building on our own we are in a better position. So some clothes will hide lumps and bumps whereas others will show us off. Sometimes people can have bouts of body dysmorphia, and lack of acceptance of the shape they are.. Why are we not like x etc - well we cannot be! We are y!!! So we cancompensate by having clothes that can cover most bases.

And it is multi-factorial as we can change shape in our lives - and this itself brings around the issue of acceptance. Do we accept our bodies for what they are? Can we live with being a different shape to the one we would like to be in our dreams? Do we have clothes that are too small for us? Or too big for us?

Perhaps this then presses on our eating habits - do we eat more than we need or less than we need? Back to one of my earlier points - Are clothes to hide or to highlight?

All very interesting stuff.

All these factors can be integral to what we have in our wardrobe. So by organising and tidying our clothes, other areas of our behaviour and thoughts become more evident. A veritable home of hidden treasures!
